#158 Cannot connect if Profile set Color to 256

No

Server: Apple Remote Desktop Client 2.2.0 (Untested on
others)
Client COTV: 2.0b3

When Profile has colors set to 256 I receive:
Connection Terminated - Zlib inflate error: invalid
distance too far back
No problems if Profile set to Let server decide
(Millions) or Thousands

Disabling Zlib (and others) results in:
Connection Terminated - Unknown message type -1

Changing server display to 256 and setting COT to let
server decide is a possible work around, but cumbersome
as server is a mini connected to the TV running as a
media center and you need to reconnect whenever you
change color settings.

I can confirm that this is happening to me as well. Same setup, same results.

I have the same problem. I'm using COTV 2.0b4

When asking to connect with 256 colors COTV fails:

'Zlib inflate error: stored block lengths'

The screen is black, sometimes with some random graphics gunk, and the
    connection is terminated.

If I turn off Zlib, then CoVNC still fails, but with the error message:

    'Unknown message type 80'

More gunk, and the connection is terminated.

I'm running as server: Intel Mac Mini Core Solo 1.5Ghz, 1Gb RAM OS 10.4.5
with latest updates; as client: PowerBook G4 1.25Ghz 1Gb OS 10.4.5 with
    latest updates.

The workaround suggested above didn't work for me. When I switched the
server to display just 256 colors, VNC completely borked, displaying a black
screen. I had to do some fancy sshing to get the display back to more than
    256 colors and hence readable.

I'd really like to connect with just 256 colors to keep it snappy.

    Same here
    same setup
    same reults

I'd also LOVE a 256 colours option for v fast access

For the mean time, I suggest people use osxVnc, which works
beautifully with COT, instead of ARD Client. The problem
may well be with ARD, but I wish someone would check it out.
