Moving the game to postgresql? WTF????

During to summer in 2010 I went for a DB2 course and learned a lot about databases. I wanted to use my knowledge about databases and expand upon it by doing a project on a database. ConWC was a good choice for a project in a database and there was several quick wins by doing it. The most important being that I would learn a lot about PostgreSQL.

Now, PostgreSQL is NOT DB2, but postgres is certainly the most advanced open source database which has many of the features needed to recreate the game. Even though DB2 Express C is free, it is still a lot of work to manage than PostgreSQL. PostgreSQL is in version 9 in my linux distro(Arch Linux), so I got to work on the bleeding edge.... read more
