I have downloaded the latest program for the Mac and I continue to get the folowing error

    Unable to Launch Jave Application
Unable to locate the application's 'main' class. The class
'JarLauncher' must be public and have a 'public static void
    main(String[]) 'method. (LAX)

I am a PC person trying to work in a Mac enviorment and so i am not sure what exactly is this telling me?

I went to the Java site to see if new drivers downloads were available but there were none for the Mac.

How do I resolve the issue?

    Thanks

What version of Mac OS are you using?

I haven't run ConsultComm on a Mac before, but let me ask a few more clarifying questions: 1) What version of ConsultComm are you using 2) Did you install from the InstallAnywhere package 3) What version of Java are you using?

      1) ConsultComm 2.3.2
      2) Yes - it gave me an alert message that the Install Anywhere Now software was registered but unlicensed and then continued the installation.
      3) It appears to be 2.2.5, but I am not confident of that. I went to the Java site to get a updated Mac edition of Java and I could not find one.

      Thanks for your assistance.

I have a feeling it's a Java versioning problem - plus you need the Java XML packs to go along with everything (more details are available in the install.html documentation).

Taking a look at Apple's Java FAQ (http://developer.apple.com/java/faq/#gen_5), they say:

"The latest Mac OS Runtime for Java on Mac OS 9 provided a 1.1.8 Java VM. There are no plans to bring any versions of J2SE to Mac OS 9."

ConsultComm needs at least Java 1.2, so that might be the problem unfortunately.

I have installed the latest Java from apple and I still get the following error message:

      Unable to Launch Jave Application
Unable to locate the application's 'main' class. The class
'JarLauncher' must be public and have a 'public static void
      main(String[]) 'method. (LAX)

What does this mean? What is JarLauncher? how do I make it public and give it a 'public static void main(String[])'?

      Thanks for your assistance!

It means that it either can't find a file called JarLauncher.class or that the version of Java installed can't find it. If you can, find out what version of Java you're running - you're probably running version 1.1.8, but if it's 1.2 or (the most recent) 1.4 it could be an installation issue.

Another way you might get things to work is by downloading the .zip file and executing the file CsltComm.jar within the archive.

      You stated:

I am not sure how to do that.

      Thanks

You can download the file ending in .zip, then uncompress the file using StuffIt Expander (or something likewise). Then you'll see a file called CsltComm.jar in the directory you've expanded into. From there you should be able to click on the file and run it.

When I do that i get the following message:

The document "CsltCom.jar" could not be opened, because the application program that created it could not be found.

Could not find a translation extension with appropriate translators.

      [OK]

      Any thoughts?

      Thanks for your assistance.

Sounds like a problem with a configuration of the JRE. Not 100% sure, and I don't have an OS 9 machine to tinker with. I'll keep my eyes open and see if I can find anything else.

Were you able to find out what version of the JVM you're running?
