No text is displayed by Console Telnet from this telnet based chat server until the connection is finally closed, and that is only ever the very last line of text.

This behaviour is consistent when the server is run on different hosts in different networks, and even when using different hosts for the client. This can be tested against the address telnet://ah.talkers.org:2222.
