You can't quite set up the mouse-based copy/paste as a normal Unix/Linux user would expect. What is expected is as follows:

  1. Highlight text by dragging with the left mouse button.
  2. Click on the window with the middle mouse button to paste. While this happens, the original area remains highlighted.

What you currently have to do is as follows:

  1. Highlight text by dragging with the left mouse button.
  2. Click again somewhere to unhighlight
  3. Paste using the middle mouse button.

You can set things up to immediately unhighlight so you don't have to do the intermediate extra click, but this is unhelpful, and you normally want the highlighting to remain so that you can check that you have highlighted the correct bit.
