Although you can call a bash script to do this using ${execi} it would be good if a native object was created that allowed an IP to be pinged and the text UP / 0 or DOWN / 1 returned depending on whether the IP responded correctly. At present I use this but there are delays of 1-2 seconds at the start..

MachineName (xxx.xxx.xx.xx) ${alignr} ${if_match ${execi 10 /home/scripts/pingtest.sh xxx.xxx.xx.xx} == 0}${color green}UP${color}${else}${color red}DOWN${color}${endif}

I know you can use ${texeci} to thread the process, but everything defaults to 'UP' until something is returned. I prefer the black box on screen until the window is rendered the first time.
