#11 long dashboard load on intranet install
On a clean install to an intranet server (w/no external internet access, even through curl), I have noticed that any call from a site page to the dashboard takes 20-30 seconds to load. Calls within the Dashboard nav options are instant; however, clicking on the C5 icon that links to the Dashboard home page from any of the admin pages, again replicates the 20-30 second wait.
From past experience with CMS, this is normally due to some call being made to display latest news or version checking. While C5 degrades gracefully (does not error out, preventing the user from reaching the Dashboard altogether), it would be nice if this was done through AJAX so that it does not slow down the page load, or if there could be a test and option set at install time so that the system forgoes external calls in the future.
