Hi, =20 I would be glad enough if anyone would provide me with a sample application which uses the COMUnit Framework. Hi all, Does anyone know if/how COMUnit can create a TestSuite based on parameters in an XML file? What I'd like to do is automate our COMUnit tests such that the daily builds run all the Tests in all TestContainers, but conduct tests from a subset from the command line. Hi Zack.
Yup, this fixed it. Thanks!
Seems like this ought to go back to the community, huh?

I like ComUnit, but I've got a minor problem. Each time I try to create
a new ComUnit project inside VB, I get the following error
ComUnitRunner.ocx cannot be loaded -- Continue loading project?
Selecting Yes points me to ComUnitRunner.log which says
Line 13: Class COMUnitRunner.UnitRunner of control UnitRunner1 was
not a loaded control class.
Line 19: The property name _ExtentX in UnitRunner1 is invalid.
Line 20: The property name _ExtentY in UnitRunner1 is invalid.
The ocx is replaced by a PictureBox. If I manually add the ocx from the
Components tab, it works just fine. Can anyone point me to success?
Thanks!

Hi Michael, Managed to get it running enough just now (thanks for the file, it prompted= me to download XML 4.0, which I hadn't been aware of). The problem is being caused because you are calling AssertEqualsString() on= an instance of a TestResult object that you've created in your ITestContai= ner_Setup() routine. If, instead, you call it on the instance that is passe= d to your test function (called oTestResult, rather than myTestResult), the= n you'll get the expected failure. I am used to using nUnit with C# and in COMUnit I am doing this: myTestResult.AssertEqualsString "SINGLE_ELEMENT1", "why dont we fail", "The node did not come back with the correct name of SINGLE_ELEMENT" It says this passes. Shouldn't it fail since the first 2 parameters are not equal? I have checked the tutorial and the reference manual and I think I am doing it correctly... Any advice would be appreciated. I found the TestLoader code with CVS and will be extending it so that it can be invoked from the commandline. Does anybody have a UML diagram for COMUnit? Preferrably one that I can pull into Visio. If not, I'll end up creating one in the next couple weeks. Best regards, Jason Bell __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Hi all, I received some feedback to my ping mail yesterday, it appears people are still using ComUnit, which is cool. I've been thinking some more about the test parameter deal, and here's my idea: - Define a new interface, ITestContainerParams with a single method: ' Initialized before Setup is called Public Sub SetParameters(TestParameters params) =09 End Sub - The unit runner should attempt to query for the interface when first creating every test container. If it's available, then pass in the parameters collection (or Nothing, if no parameters available). If the interface isn't implemented, this step is ignored, and Setup is called as usual - After this pre-initialization, Setup is called, and the test container implementation can peruse parameters to perform per-container initialization. - All the announced test cases are executed as usual. The difference is that the test container implementation can cache a pointer to the parameters, and re-use it in each test method - I'd like to remove the Parameters property from the TestResult class, since I believe it doesn't belong there. I could leave it to preserve backward compatibility, but I'd prefer to have it removed. Any thoughts on this? If I understand things correctly, the Parameters property is new for ComUnit 1.2 Beta, so hopefully not too many people are using it. That's what I've considered... Any and all feedback is welcome. I'll hack together the changes locally and see how well it works. Thanks, Kim Gr=E4sman |

I downloaded it with the intent to use it on my current project, but haven't actually started yet. So I don't have input to this choice, but on the other hand I have no backward compatibility problems either. Hi all, Is anybody still using ComUnit? I haven't used it for a while (2 years), but I'm getting into unit-testing again. Using the ComUnit 1.2 beta, I've found a couple of things I'd like to fix/improve, but I'm not sure if I should bother to maintain backward compatibility, unless anybody else is still using it. The parameters stuff is great, I've missed that a lot, since many of my tests are highly configuration-specific. However, it feels like a bit of a hack to just tack it onto the ITestResult interface, even though it keeps backward compatibility. Instead, I'd like to propose that the ITestContainer_Setup method takes the Parameters collection, so that they can be cached per container, and used in the Setup/Teardown phase as well. The problem with making this change, is that all existing test containers will break. So, if no-one is using the framework anymore, I'll probably just make that change locally, otherwise I'd love some input and/or ideas, so we can get this merged into the main code line. Thanks, Kim |

does anyone have a sample of using comunit from vc++ that they could submit to the list? it would be great to include such a sample in the core project so non-vb developers could get quickly up and running. if you have a sample, please mail it to me and i'll check it in. cheers, owen. -----Original Message----- From: Rui Maia [mailto:rf...@me...] Sent: Thursday, February 20, 2003 12:05 PM To: ow...@ex...
