Installing Computer Monitor

First download the .exe installer file from the downloads section, you will need .net framework 4 to install and use computer monitor.

Open the installer and follow the instructions, then run the 'Computer Monitor' icon on your desktop, this will open computer monitor.

You will be asked your network name, then if you want to use an LDAP server and if you want to scan your local network, just follow the instructions provided.

Note: scanning your network is in beta and may not work correctly. You can find more information here:
https://sourceforge.net/p/compmonitor/wiki/Re-scanning%20the%20local%20network/

To add a device manually, after you have finished the setup wizard, go devices->add device to open the add device wizard. This will then ask for information about your device. The device group is used for keeping similar devices together, for example a 'servers' group and a 'switches' group are common. To add them to the same group, just enter the same text into every device you want to put into that group.

When you have added all of your devices, Computer Monitor will ping them every so often and alert you with a noise if it can't be pinged. The noise can be turned off by right clicking the device that is down and selecting 'maintenance mode', this will change it's icon and it will stop making noise will it is down.

To delete a device just right click it and click 'delete'.

You can also edit a device when you right click it, you can change the name, IP and group. There is also an image field. The image field is the field that computer monitor uses to find out what image to display, for example 'laptop' for a laptop and 'workstation' for a workstation (with out the quotes), the complete list of images is found below:

Image of a workstation: workstation

Image of a laptop: laptop

Image of network switch: switch

Image of a router: router
