When one does an on-line financial transaction, there's usually a confirmation number that one can hang onto just in case one needs to refer to it. Similarly, if there were a log of all registrations along with a number to identify a particular registration (or an update), then it would help sort out any problems that occur.

Not something pressing, but it's used in banking, so maybe it might be of use in this context as well.
