Trying to install Compiere on a IBM AIX rs/6000 as the
server. Running AIX 4.3.3 which only supports Java
1.3.1. AIX 5.1L supports 1.4.1 but my Oracle 9R2
currently runs on only 4.3.3. Tried building Compiere
source using a Java j2sdk1.3.1 but I get build errors.
Found ClassVersionLimiter.java that looks like it corrects
the problem but have been unable to run it successfully.
If it takes care of the problem please advise how I run it.
Am a newbie to Compiere and Java.

FYI: My 244c build runs the RUN_setup correctly on a
WIN box but I can't complete the install because I don't
have a WIN Oracle database.

Is there any hope?

I am not sure, if you'll get Compiere Application running on
AIX. Database is no issue (uses it's own Java version). The
main 1.4.1 changes were in the Swing classes, so it might
work. You should be able to run the apps server on any 1.4
    runtime system (in theory)

You can run the Compiere Application server on another box
    than the database server.

Thanks for the idea. I've setup the apps server on a WIN box
and Oracle database on AIX. Can you provide an enbedded
license for Oracle database for AIX via a ComPiere support
    license.

The Oracle license of the support contract is Global for all
    Platforms.
