Is there a way to set a default UOM on the Sales and PO Order line screen that is other than the base UOM?
Our client uses three different units of measure.
One is set as the base UOM for all products (EA).
The other two are what the products are sold in (hundreds and thousands).
Our client's sales folks want the sales order UOM setting to always be defaulted to M (thousands). But I cannot figure a way to do this.
- Value preferences don't work for this field.
- I tried taking away the dynamic validation rule and setting the default logic to be 'M'.
Is there a way to do this?
Thanks for your help,
Peter

it will use the base uom. It cannot be set via value preference

But I can't even get it to select the base UOM. Basically, if I have multiple UOMs defined for this product, the field goes 'pink' and the user is forced to select. So is that a restriction in the event of multiple UOMs? No way to specify the selection of a default?

We've decided to address this issue with a callout, because in essence our client thinks of UOMs in two ways - the stocking UOM and the buying/selling UOM. I would think that at some point Compiere could benefit from such a concept (that is, of a selling UOM distinct from the base UOM).
But for now we'll go the extension route.
Thanks anyway,
Peter
