Activating Trace Log in preferences creates a lot of files
(one for every log line) in temp directory. In a couple of
hours, with logging set to fine, I got +200000
compiere*.log files in /tmp.

Could you please attacge one or two of the log files with their
    exact (absolute) fine name?

This seems to be a log4j problem and it appears when
$COMPIERE_HOME/log is not writeable to the user.
    I attached 2 files.

Not sure, the format of log files is
    C:\Compiere2\log\2005-04-17_0.log
    - might be an old version -

Cannot reproduce - Please create a Support Request (NOT a BUG)
    and provide the following information:
    1) What did you intend to do?
    2) What steps did you take?
    3) What were the system reactions?

Please enable tracing (by adding -debug as a parameter) and add
    trace information.

No, it's 2.5.2b, running on linux.
I already created a support request and it was promoted to a
    bug.

Indeed, the format of log file name is 2005-04-17_0.log, when
the log directory is writable. When it's not, the files created
    in /tmp are like compiere32727.log

Thanks for the clarification - We'll document that the log
    directory must be writeable.
