Optimum Oracle License Cost?

We are a small concern with 5-10 potential users of compiere. To go into production, we need to buy Oracle license. We have two options; either buy oracle license(1500 USD for 5 users/proc. perpetual) or buy Compiere Support+Oracle License for 1500 USD but this is per annum.

Which of these is more feasible and cost optimum?

Btw how Firebird faires vis-a-vis oracle in Production env??

Oracle has released an Oracle 10G Lite version that runs on 1GB of memory and 1 processor.  4GB DB limit which would ok for what you want to do for a while.

You could get started for free and upgrade.

No, the Oracle Express Edition XE version (Lite is for mobile devices) doesn't support SQLJ yet.  Compiere doesn't work on XE because the lack of SQLJ.
