We are proud to release the secondond production release of Compiere-NMA, the current release is now being used for a few days already in our datacenter and has already replaced last production release.

What does Compiere-NMA do?
With this module you can collect data from any kind of SNMP device like switches, routers and also from servers or workstations. The main purpose is to collect the traffic produced on the ports. Today the Compiere-NMA project has started it's real work. The project is owned by ComDivision GmbH (http://www.compiere.com) a Compiere partner since 2002. The project's main target is to extend compiere with network management and accounting functionality. Most of the modules provided in this project are derived from the internal development ComDivision started in 2002, so it is not really a new project, but new to the open source community.

The main target for the beginning is to build up the toolset for collecting network management and accounting data from routers, switches, pbx, servers and workstations. This information is not only necessary for ISPs, ASPs or Datacenters, it can also be helpfull for companies to determine where IT-costs are produced.

For the future the project will also include the functionality to not only collect network data, it will be possible to monitor the health of your network and react on problems that occur. Another big point will be the billing and contract infrastructure for the collected data to be able to invoice your customer based on ordered services.
