Apologies for the late response - I have been out of office for a while.

I'll add gridftp timeout support today. 
Ps, Markus, I would also like to look at the small files issue we
discussed recently. Could you point me in the right direction to the web
pages where you saw that the jglobus/cog had addressed this issue ?

Hi guys.

I was wondering: is there a way to specify a timeout for a 
gridftp-connection when using the commons-vfs-grid plugin? I am having 
problems accessing some of the filesystems mds says that are available, 
but sometimes a firewall just drops the packets and my client just sits 
and waits.

At the moment it takes about a minute or two until I get an error 
message. This is a bit too long for a user interface. So, is there a way

to reduce this time?
