Dear Open Source developer I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I kindly invite you to participate. You will find the online survey under http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/. The questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to complete it. With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms. This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved individuals and the conditions of production of these two development models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of Open Source Development. With many thanks for your participation, Benno Luthiger PS: The results of the survey will be published under http://www.isu.unizh.ch/fuehrung/blprojects/FASD/. We have set up the mailing list fa...@we... for this study. Please see http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/mailinglist_en.html for registration to this mailing list. _______________________________________________________________________ Benno Luthiger Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich 8092 Zurich Mail: benno.luthiger(at)id.ethz.ch _______________________________________________________________________ |

This is the CommGen Development mailing list. This is a forum to discuss all technical issues related to the CommGen project implementation, design and architecture. Testing and Quality Assurance are also grouped in this discussion. This is not a moderated list, so please general usenet ethics when posting (i.e. no trolling, spaming, vulgarity) Thanks Graham |

[[Note: The text below is contained in the CommGenArchitecture specification]] Scenario 2: A Simple Agent Application --- This scenario is intended to further describe the interaction of all layers of the framework. In this case, we will be creating a simple Agent application. In addition, we will be trying to answer a few (fairly) fundamental questions; 1.What is an Agent? 2.What is a Name? 3.What is are the fundamental Services that are needed in the 'Services' Layer? Is a service abstraction across the entire framework necessary? 4.How should data be persisted in the system? (i.e. From Kernel to DIOS to Agent to Application) 5.What is the organization of the layers of the system? 6.What are the components of the system? Components --- Fundamental Components --- a. Messaging [Kernel] b. Persistence (store() and fetch() - what are the parameters to these methods?) [DiOS] c. AgentFactory (including initial configuration) [DiOS] d. Agent [Agent] e. Rule Engine(s) [Agent] f. Naming Service / API [DiOS] g. Knowledge Base(s) [Agent] h. Configuration (????) [Layer-Specific] i. Forecasting [Application] j. GUI / Web Interface [Application] k. Data Transfer Objects (may be part of the agent layer) [Application / Agent] l. System Management (console...) [Application] Application Components / Agents --- 1.Security Agent + Rules (rules are implicit in the definition of the agent) 2.Forecasting Agent 3.Business Rule Agent 4.System Rule Agent (amalgamation of security, configuration, user management) 5.User Agents (One of a single role/actor type per user) |
