Trying to install com0com on my Windows 10 Pro 64 bit system. Looks like the version is 3.0.0.0. On the "choose components" window, I selected Start Menu Shortcuts and COM# <->COM#. When I hit install, a command window opens with the title c:\program files (x86)\com0com\setupc.exe . The window is empty and the install progress bar is stuck at about 75% complete. The last line in the list below the progress bar is Execute:"c:\program files (86)\com0com\setupc.exe - output "c:\users\floyd\ap... the rest not visible. It hangs this way for eternity.
Previously on this system, an Eltima virtual port product was installed, but that was removed with Revo Uninstaller and supposedly all registry entries related to that were removed. Any idea what's happening? Thanks for your help.
If I close that command window, the progress bar proceeds to about 90% and another command window appears with this: CNCA0 PortName=COM#
CNCB0 PortName=COM# and then it hangs again forever. Can't close that window with the big X.
Someone suggested I try V2 of com0com and I did that and was able to get it installed. However, there was an error message when installing that said the Identifiers CNCA0 and CNCB0 are already used for other ports so ports with identifiers CNCA2 and CNCB2 will be installed instead. I have no idea what that means. I then started com0com and created a pair of ports, com10 and com11. Those ports don't show up in device manager and will not pass data.
