Sometimes I need to access a microcontroler through serial comunications. Then I need to add TTL to rs232 voltage level converter circuitry.

Since the parallel port has TTL levels it is possible and indeed has been used to comunicate to microcontrollers using one input signal and one output signal (parallel port pins 1 'strobe' and 13 'select') to emulate a serial port (from now on I will refer as TTL232).

But each project develops it's own communication software and bit mangling routines.

That is a waste of resources and you could put an end to that.

Why not create a driver based con the null modem emulator which would expose the TTL232 as a common comm port?

It would enable rapid prototyping and easy interfacing.

What do you think?

Cheers

This feature can't be implemented within the bounds of this project because
the com0com driver is not designed to serve any real devices.
