Sometimes when you change port parameters (particularly to set a virtual port to Com1-4 range) you get the message that 'The port name ComX is already logged as "in use" in the com port database'.
I know there is no hardware there because under the registry SERIALCOMM there is no entry for ComX. So it should be safe to do this. Can I suppress the message? If I try --silent it doesn't seem to help. And where exactly is this 'database'?

It's possible the ComX was logged as "in use" by a plugable device (USB modem for example).
It will use ComX when you plug the device again.
