I downloaded com0com-2.0.0.0-i386 and installed it on a WinXP. It installed and works beautifully.
However, some programs don't support CNCA0, ect. as port names. How do you change port names? The text file said to enter the setup command prompt. In the file I downloaded all there is is Readme.txt and Setup.exe. Setup.exe just reruns the setup program.
Can you tell me how to rename the ports?
Thanks,
Clint
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
Just start the configuration program (Setup command prompt) and type "help".
You'll see a list of commands, one of them explains how to change the port name.

By default Setup.exe adds the "com0com" group with
"Setup Command Prompt" shortcut to the Start Menu:
Start -> All Programs -> com0com -> Setup Command Prompt
Thanks. I didn't even look under the program list. This is one cool program.
