As for the problem, I installed com0com in a Windows 2003 R2 SP1 virtual machine.
I also created the default CNCA0-CNCB0 pair. I tested it with HyperTerminal and it works.
However, if I run (as an Admin) "setupc busynames *" setupc consumes 100% of the CPU and it does not return (at least it does not return within a reasonable amount of time, i.e. 1 minute)
It works great in Windows XP.
