I'm using here "unzip" which is installed on my Redhat 8.0 box, which works very good. We should maybe consider to release the unix version as "tar.gz" instead of using ".zip". > I ignored the advice about the old config and it would not start untill I had renamed it. It was there from an earlier trial installation of the stable version. To use parallel versions of Columba you need to specify another location for your configuration with the "--path" commandline option. for example: "java -jar columba.jar --path ~/.stable" and "java -jar columba.jar --path ~/.testing" the default path is of course ~/.columba > First reaction > Seams very similar except much faster. Wether this is beacuase the various folders are empty I dont know. We didn't change anything of the user-interface. We just worked on the not user-visible stuff. Folders are loaded dynamically, they are not loaded on startup. So the performance won't be getting slower ;-) > Can I import from my curent mail store so i see how it performs with a lot of messages and how fast it opens large ones which is one of my current problems. Iwould like to do this before contributing my list of issues. We don't supply any option to import an old Columba configuration. But this is something we have to consider when releasing the new stable version. We just want to wait until the snapshots become as reliable as the stable 0.9.11 version. It would be a good idea to support at least importing of your old mailbox. > I will say that apart from speed, I have found the current version very good! Good to hear :-) Cheers, Frederik |
