Colocolo Still Progressing

I had to take a little time out for some home improvement projects, but trust me, the Colocolo CueCat Driver is still in the works. In fact, as soon as the painting is done, we'll be using our trusty CueCat and a bunch of inventory stickers to straighten up this office / library I code in. So, feel free to pull the code down from Subversion the repository, build it, see how useful it can be for you.

Colocolo SVN imported

I finally read enough about SVN to make a repository and then migrate it into SourceForge. OK, I also cleaned up the code a little and put GPL headers on all the source files, too.

Colocolo begins

A few months ago, I decided I wanted to organize some of my media. I have thousands of books, CDs and DVDs, most of which have a convenient barcode on the back. There are even several great software packages that can retrieve the meta-data from online databases to assist you. The problem was, I didn't have a barcode reader. No problem, a friend gave me an original (still in the original sealed box!) :CueCat. With all the links I found for the 'Cat, I thought it would be smooth sailing. Unfortunately, most of those links were circa 2000. The Linux input subsystem has changed a bit since then -- nothing I found would work with the 2.6 kernel. I thought about hacking the hardware (many instruction), but I figured this was a great opportunity to learn about the input system. So, here is the result, the Colocolo CueCat driver. In a short while, I'll upload the (working) prototype. I hope to flesh it out so it is configurable, make it install cleanly, etc. I hope it is of use to others out there.
