I have been wondering if VNC could be sped up by removing the tcp layer. I admit that I know nothing about the internals of VNC or colinux for that matter, but this is just an idea. What if the vnc client and server were patched to use named pipes (or something) for data transfer rather than TCP. The coLinux kernel could then act as the data conduit between the linux side and the windows side. I would expect this to be slower than a virtual framebuffer approach to gui display, but would it be faster than the existing network based approaches. Sorry if this has been discussed in the past... just a thought I had. --Chris ----- http://www.NuVerde.net - Premium Web Hosting From $8.88 Per Month http://www.Dahlweb.net - My Personal Web Page ----- |
