I've done this numerous times. I download the latest Gentoo coLinux image, do a Gentoo install using the downloaded coLinux gentoo image as my 'initial boot' image to a new file, and when it comes time to "install the kernel", just copy over /lib/modules/* to /mnt/gentoo/lib/modules Everything just works for me doing it this way.
