I've only recently discovered coLinux, and was wondering if it's possible to use coLinux to mount a ext3 partition read-write as normal drive under Windows, possibly as like a loopback device; or maybe with a mounted high-speed, local (as in on the same pc) samba share, this would do the job just as well. Another solution I have been examining is ext2/3 fs drivers for windows (for example http://ext2fsd.sourceforge.net/) but there's no support in any of them for writing in ext3, just ext2. This is for a system dual-booting both Windows and Linux natively at moment, and I want to format shared partitions with a filesystem other than FAT32, for reliability reasons, and also ruling out NTFS as a rw fs, as thanks to Microsoft not publishing specifications, support for writing under Linux is still a bit 'hackish' (i.e. not officially supported by any distro I know). Though I mention ext3 partitions, possibly some other linux fs would be more appropriate, as in my case this would be intended for storing large files and somewhat high fs throughtput (recording directly from a tv/video- in card). I'm open for suggestions on this too. thanks |
