Is there a way to automate this test cycle on Windows?:
  1 - test
  2 - install
  3 - test
  4 - uninstall
  5 - change
  6 - repeat from step 2

If python can do that, I'd love to know how.  In fact, I'd like to know 
of any method that can do that.  If there is any way that I can help in 
developing that automated test suite, please let me know.

[coLinux-devel] regression tests?

Does the coLinux project have an automated method for regression 
testing under Windows?

I ask because I downloaded and tested each of the 
http://colinux.org/snapshots/*.exe files and the 0.6.0 release with the 
Debian root fs on a Win2K machine.  A test passed if I was able to log 
in as root.  The method, stepwise:

  - download the Debian fs image and the colinux-*.exe files into 
c:\colinux.download
  - for each colinux-*.exe file :
    - uncompress Debian fs image into c:\colinux
    - rename Debian fs image to root_fs
    - install colinux-*.exe, choosing all the defaults
    - cd to c:\Program Files\colinux\
    - run colinus-daemon.exe
    - save any error output
    - uninstall colinux-*.exe
    - remove c:\colinux\root_fs

My results, in the order tested:

Y/N : colinux-*.exe file
  N :  coLinux-20040424-2.exe
  N :  coLinux-20040423.exe
  Y :  coLinux-20040421.exe
  Y :  coLinux-20040417.exe
  Y :  coLinux-20040415.exe
  Y :  coLinux-0.6.0.exe

I'd like to repeat the test whenever a new snapshot comes out.  But 
doing this by hand gets a little monotonous, which makes it a task 
ideally suited for computers.  Is there a way to automate the above 
steps under Windows?

The coLinux code base currently doesn't have any automated testsuite, 
albait I'd really like it to have one as soon as possible. My experience
made me believe in the importance of automated tests.

For this, I'm planning to write a set of Python scripts as a base that
other people will be able to expand.

Hi

You should be able to launch the colinux installer with /s to get silent ,
default install.
Perhaps you should customize it a bit to avoid messing with drivers each
time it runs tho

Yes.  Would like to do this.  Need to learn more about it though.  I'm 
pretty new to Windows installations.

I just had a quick peek at the NSIS help. You can disable a section by
default with "/o"

in colinux.nsi for example , around line 171 :
changing :
Section "coLinux Bridged Ethernet (WinPcap)" SeccoLinuxBridgedNet
to
Section /o "coLinux Bridged Ethernet (WinPcap)" SeccoLinuxBridgedNet
would probably put winpcap install out by default
