I have been successfully using VNC as my X server under CoLinux with gdm. I have attached my gdm.conf. To do this, what you need to do is: 1) use vncpasswd to generate a password file for the -rfbauth option to Xvnc - I put mine in /var/lib/gdm/.vnc/passwd 2) you need to modify gdm.conf first, change VCAllocation=true to VTAllocation=false and comment out the FirstVT=7 line. Then go to the [server-Standard] section and change the command to launch Xvnc with all it's necessary options. I figured out the options I needed by running vncserver from the command line, and then looking at the output of ps auxww | grep X You should then be able to use the vnc client from windows to connect to your X server. I have also enabled xdmcp so I can use a windows X server - just set Enable=true in the [xdmcp] section. If all you want is xdmcp, then you can comment out the 0=standard linbe under the [servers] section - this will prevent gdm from trying to launch an X server on the local machine - it will simply listen for xdmcp requests. Hope this helps. > -----Original Message----- > From: col...@li...
