Also with wireless and other network device drivers (NDIS shim), not to
mention with CODECs under avifile (with viewers like
mplayer/xine/gstreamer/etc.).

Thunking shim layers to Windows native drivers is becoming an
increasingly popular thing to do. This poor-man's binary compatibility
silliness wouldn't be neccesary if vendors would simply open up their
chipset reference docs.
