use vnc it has a clipboard I am using the latest version of tight vnc and was able to copy from and rxvt window inside fluxbox to notepad you can also run xvnc from initrd and use xdm or gdm to log in. You can setup different resolutions on different ports. or you can just start the server from the console as a user. In this case it will preserve the session if you close the client then open it back up.
