I've noticed that when the TAP-32 driver that colinux comes with is installed, after a couple days of uptime I start to experience terribly degraded network performance. On www.broadbandreports.com/stest , I get around 220 kbps down/128 kbps up. When I uninstall the TAP driver, I get around 2000 kbps down/ 512 kbps up. I'm on a cable modem with a theoretical maximum of 10 Mbps down/768 kbps up. Anyone else experienced this issue? Unfortunately it makes it impossible for me to use the networking capabilities of colinux. I'm on Windows XP, Professional. I had the problem with SP1, SP1 with the Windows XP Advanced Networking pack installed, and with SP2. Have not tested it in any other configurations. Network card is described as a Realtek RTL8139/810X Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC. I experience the problem regardless of if Colinux is running or not, and regardless of if the network is setup using native bridging, or with Internet Connection Sharing. |
