> Can nebody suggest me complete guide for understanding and running UML(user mode > linux). Anand, If you're only interested in UML (Linx only), then go to http://user-mode-linux.sourceforge.net and http://www.usermodelinux.org If you're intersted in running an UML kernel in coLinux, then I suggest: 1) Get and install 20040710 snapshot (http://www.colinux.org/snapshots) 2) Get http://firechief.dyndns.org/colinux/binaries/coLinux-0.6.2-sns-gpb0816.tar.bz2 * Make a back-up of your 20040710 install directory * UnArchive the above file over your 20040710 install directory. ** This is an unofficial build of coLinux kernel and binaries from source repository on 0816 + UML's SKAS host kernel patch + UML's SYSEMU host kernel patch 3) Get an vanilla linux kernel 4) Get and Apply the appropriate uml-patch for the vanilla linux kernel you got. 5) (optional) Get and Apply the UML SYSEMU guest patches. 6) Compile and build UML guest kernel as normal (for UML). 7) Get an UML root filesystem. 8) run UML guest kernel with root filesystem. The above is basically what I did. I had an Debian 3.0r0 root fs up and running in with the above steps. I used 2.6.8.1 for my UML guest kernel. I haven't had time to try it with 2.4.x, but I image it should work as well. HTH, George ------------------------------------ Want to talk to other Christians?
