I have fixed the problem after some heavy googling. It seems the gnome-keyboard-switcher panel applet was causing the keyboard mapping problem. Removing it from the panel and restarting the vnc server fixed the problem :) There is still the problem with xscreensaver timing out VERY quickly. Seems colinux is the culprit as it works properly under native linux. Anyone know how to fix this timer problem ??
