Hey all. I=92ve got my colinux with gentoo working nicely. Been up and running = for a week now. So I thought I=92d venture onto getting some nice graphical = apps going. But I=92m having some trouble. My main source of info was from http://www.colinux.org/wiki/index.php/XCoLinux my setup is using X-win32. My current attempt is done by ssh=92ing into it and setting putty to = enable X11 forwarding. I then open X-win32 and setup a XDMPC Query set to the gentoo box=92s IP. And of course I do the export DISPLAY=3Dwindowsbox with X-win32 =20 It must =BD work because if I type xterm, xcalc, bitmap, any of those = simple Xclient apps it will popup and be usable thanks to X-win32. Now what I=92m trying to do is what they have setup at my uni, they have = an older version of X-win32 and we can use that to connect to their = servers, and can use KDE and stuff like that. So I type X or startx or xinit. But they all come up with the same = thing: =20 (=3D=3D) Log file: "/var/log/XFree86.0.log", Time: Mon Jul 19 00:46:03 = 2004 (EE) Unable to locate/open config file (EE) Error from xf86HandleConfigFile() =20 Fatal server error: no screens found =20 =20 so I must be missing out just one small very simple step that I can=92t = find anywhere. I made sure I did as much research and put down as much info as I could rather than a =93its not working, make it work=94 post you usually see = so hopefully will encourage someone to reply ;) =20 Thanks Dave |
