Which memory size do you have configured for andLinux? The default size 
is 128MB of RAM and 256 of swap. This might not be enough for running 
the whole gnome desktop.

Also, you might want to install the dbus package (apt-get install dbus 
). That will solve the error message (but i don't think it's the main 
cause).

Finally, beware of updating to 7.10. The init daemon changed, and it 
won't open automatically the desktop. I don't have here the details of 
how to fix that, but it's about creating an init script in some 
directory instead of relying on /etc/inittab
