Really appears dead around here. Virtually no messages, the IRC channel didn't respond to posts for like 2-3 hours... Is anyone even still using CoLinux or has everyone moved on to QEMU, Xen, VirtualBox & VMWare? IF (and it's a big if) I had time to develop some on this project in the next few weeks, what would be the biggest needs/features that would give the project new life and meaning? I'd prefer responses only from users who are actually still using coLinux. George |

64bit support. this is something always in my wish list. On Fri, Apr 11, 2014 at 3:02 PM, George P Boutwell < geo...@gm...> wrote: > Really appears dead around here. Certainly I will vote for support for screen-readers, such as YASR or Speakup, but when I asked in the blind linux community, they implied it would be unlikely getting it working. As of now a windows screen-reader JAWS will read, but its not an ideal solution. Thanks in advance Hart |

Hello, It is really difficult to get that working without support from the screen reader software. If you are interested on why, I can provide details (it will be a long e-mail!) You may want to try Tally-Ho and other OCR-based screen readers. It will not be perfect but it will be better than nothing: https://code.google.com/p/tallyho/ On Sat, Apr 12, 2014 at 12:14 AM, Hart Larry <ch...@hu...>wrote: > Certainly I will vote for support for screen-readers, such as YASR or > Speakup, > but when I asked in the blind linux community, they implied it would be > unlikely > getting it working. Hi George! Glad to see someone's willing to continue working on coLinux! Lack of 64 bit support was the only reason I was sadly forced to stop using coLinux too... I bet I'm not the only one here who'd be happy to ship you a 64 bit Windows machine to help you work on coLinux! Where do we send the hardware? Do you need a copy of Win7 64-bit too? How about Windows 8? If I send you a Macbook Pro will you port coLinux to 64bit OS X too? I'm not kidding. So to demonstrate to you that we love coLinux and would all donate generously to its continued development, I've setup a bitcoin address to accept donations to: Send your bitcoin donations to The George Boutwell coLinux development fund: <bitcoin:14FuJnZUx9tBWdP64Y8faeUdMrC6S3EnzD?label=coLinux&message=The%20George%20Boutwell%20coLinux%20development%20fund> *14FuJnZUx9tBWdP64Y8faeUdMrC6S3EnzD* So everyone who's interested in encouraging you to hack on coLinux can /vote with their money//!/ -dave On 4/13/14, 2:08 PM, George P Boutwell wrote: > > I will see what I can do/get done with the time that I might have. Hi Paolo! That's great news. The ReactOS project has a 64bit driver signing license and they are willing to sign drivers for other open source projects: ReactOS Driver Signing http://reactos.org/wiki/Driver_Signing Without this, the cost for this license would be about $500 per year. Hi David, thanks for the information about driver signing. In this moment I'm fighting with cofs to make it more stable I can. I would like to remember that colinux(64) now it is not the fastest way to recompile or use max power of CPU. VirtualBox and others can use more processors, colinux not. And they can use virtualization tecnology that helps a lot, I think. After all I like colinux because it is very clean and a very interesting hack. Just chiming in to add my encouragement to a 64bit colinux effort. Like others, I have moved to 64bit Windows and won't look back now (8GB RAM is the minimum for my development workstation). I am running Linux VMs with VirtualBox and coordinating with Vagrant, both of which are great products. But I really miss the speed and simplicity of colinux. A version that works on 64bit Windows would certainly find a place in my development workflow. Regards, John Scott Interested in technology ? To use it I even have my laptop dual-boot with a 32-bit Windows 7. By the way, the 32-bit version of coLinux is out of date for two years... I cannot run Arch Linux on it. Ubuntu 12.04 LTS seems to be good but I don't dare update. It seems that we are not only to benefit from a 64-bit version, but also a NEW version of it.
