I'm trying to do some development with IPCop again. in short-term, what
I need is the ability to boot and run the IPCop system. IPCop is
currently running with a 2.4 kernel.
if my interpretation is correct, all I need to do is somehow generate a
vmlinux with all of the appropriate colinux patches as well as the
matching initrd. Then everything else in the base system should work
normally. I am also under the impression that creating a root file
system image would be to use a loopback device on Linux and untar the
distribution tarball into that loopback device.
my first goal is to build a system that will let me create flash memory
images. My second goal is to add 2 Ethernet interfaces and make it a
working firewall. I will admit the second goal might be a little bit
ambitious. :-) I'll be extremely happy if I can do flash image production.
so, is what I want practical?
The result of the duopoly that currently defines "competition" is that
prices and service suck. We're the world's leader in Internet
technology - except that we're not.
