If you mean the image files, not much. I think most of them are near 
minimal 'base' systems, ready to start but containing very little 
applications. Usually you start by updating the package system (in debian, 
apt-get update and then apt-get dist-upgrade) and then installing some 
packages that you are interested in (xterm, mozilla-firefox, gcc, ...). 

Notice that (at least the images I've tried) are unstable/testing, meaning 
some packages might be broken at times.

If you are new to linux, or have not used spesific distribution for a 
while, it is really good idea to read their documentation, eg., 
www.debian.org.

Is an 2.4.x based Debian 3.0 (stable/woody) 'base/minimal' image.

Is an 2.4.x based Debian (testing/sarge) 'base/minimal' + development
tools (for developing colinux) + some spare 'room' (of course
cause you need it for development) image

IIRC, this is stable. Being larger, I assume it has more stuff installed. 
I don't have it at hand right now so I can't tell what's installed. 
However, being stable, it means it has ancient gcc 2.95 with quite limited 
c++ template capabilities, so I didn't use it for long.

Hmm, I guess I could use it too, because I have had a few issues with 
unstable/testing. I'll download it and try to figure out the contents for 
you in an hour or so.

Completely offtopic, if someone knows how to convert .FON fonts so that I 
use them with Cygwin X (tried, failed) or VNC (haven't tried yet), please 
let me know.

easy way to check what you have installed on debian

dpkg -l

this will show you a list of all packages and versions

I don't have unmodified 20040605 anymore, but now I have 3.0r2. It is the 
version for 2.6 kernels. It does not appear to have any end-user 
applications, it is a simple base system. 

However, it appears that this stable image, too, has ..

crw-r--r--    1 root     root       2.    0 Jun 23 23:33 /dev/ptyp0

..which means mortal users cant use xterm nor rxvt. Where does this bug 
come from?
