[coLinux-users] TAP networking with windows server 2003

Hello all,

  I am trying to get networking working woth coLinux using the TAP virtual driver bridged to my cable connection (dhcp).  The problem I am having is that once the two drivers are bridged I lose all connections.  The new bridgged connection reports an invalid IP and assigns the connection a private ip. 

Any ideas of what I'm doing wrong?

Try setting your adapter in promiscuous mode with the "netsh br" commands as
described at
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/expert/crawford_02april22.mspx

[coLinux-users] coLinux and firewalls?

Any one using a firewall to filter packets (if such a beast is
out there) only for coLinux under Win2k box connected to
a LAN?

There has be some talk about using colinux as a firewall to protect
windows having linux drive the nic directly and haveing windows connect t=
o
the network through colinux and using linux native iptables as the
firewall builder.

If you just want to protect colinux just use iptables on linux.

or you could use the ICS method of networking and then nobody outside can
connect unless you have the port forwarded.
