I'm getting some really strange behaviour on one box, using 0.7.1hn11 (th=
same behaviour was also observed with an older ~June 0.7.1 development
snapshot) on Windows 2000 sp4. WinPCAP 3.1 is installed.
If set up Tun/Tap networking, I get good network performance (0.2ms ping
round-trip), unfortunately, I really need a bridged network setup, and am
stuck on W2K for this box...
If I switch to pcap-bridged mode, network performance goes down the toile=
- first packet comes back in 12ms, and all subsequent packet round-trips
are ~15ms. Throughput is also poor (a Samba file copy is > 10 times
slower than I would expect).
... but (and this is the really weird bit), if I open an ssh session usin=
the cygwin ssh command from the Windows box to any Linux box on the
network (including the colinux box itself), then ping times drop to ~1ms
(but only when the session is logged in - not on initial TCP connect!).
If I ship a load of files over to the CoLinux box using Samba, then at th=
end of the transfer, the colinux box sometimes falls off the network, onl=
to reappear some time later.
Any ideas of what I should do to try and fix or further characterise the
