I can't find either winmsd or msinfo under Vista ... neither seems to exist ...

I did, earlier, post the IRQ results from the working Knoppix boot ... was that not sufficient?

Jonathan, please run "winmsd" from Windows command prompt, select
Hardware-Ressources and IRQ from tree left side. Than "mark all" (menu
edit) and Copy&Paste the full list of interrupts (IRQ) here. This all
    please, without running coLinux.

Typicaly the Timer is on "IRQ 0". If the timer is highter as IRQ 31, we
    have some ideas.

as Vista seems to lack winmsd , you can obtain the same piece of info by
running msinfo32

Ah. Thanks.

XP also have such file. The file location is something strange, it is
"C:\Program files\Shared files\Microsoft Shared\MsInfo\msinfo32.exe"

It's the same output as from "winmsd", and the taskmanager identifiered
both as "HelpCtr.exe" after starting a subprocess.
