I have a dual boot laptop with windoze XP 32 bits on one side, and Gentoo x86_64 on the other side. I read successful stories of running Gentoo installed on its own partitions under Windows with colinux, with 2 fstab and kernel auto-recognition. But is it possible to have my Gentoo 64 bits running under a 32 bits windoze ? and Why ?
No it is not possible, because 64 bit is not supported as guest-kernel. (is not coded yet)
Thanks for your reply. Is it in the roadmap ? For when ?
I would be really surprised if it is actually possible to write code to do this. But I suppose Henry would know better. As far as I know the CPU is locked into 32 bit mode when running a 32 bit OS. So if you boot to 32 bit Windows, you can only run a 32 bit OS without emulation. What would be possible, and many are wishing for is the ability to run coLinux under 64 bit Windows.
