I use some apps that offer freedesktop.org system tray support. Yet due to this standard not being available on windows only an invisible window is being created.
However I think it is probably possible to write an application for windows which connects to the X-Server and offers the required api to make apps using the freedesktop.org system tray standard to use the Windows tray.
But I am not skilled in low level X development. Is there anybody who knows how to implement such an xembed thingy for windows ?
Additional comment : Maybe code from the WINE project can be of help because it does the same thing the other way ( providing windows system tray support under linux ).
