Hi Noel, I saw this problem on my MacBook as well - but it only happened when using wxWidgets built against trunk. (you did not mention which wx version you are using) I suspect that it is an alpha blending problem - this behavior also reproducible when "highlighting" a word in the editor I will try and forward this to the wx mailing list, once I will be able to reproduce it with the StyledText control sample.
