&lt;p&gt;The "Sound Preferences" dialog box is accessed via the pull down menu System-&amp;gt;Preferences-&amp;gt;Sound &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Once the "Sound Preferences" dialog box displays, the "Input" tab is of more utility: &lt;/p&gt;
