A new version of CocoaDialog is available for download now. http://cocoadialog.sourceforge.net/download.html The focus of this release was to add peoples' requested features. From the Changelog: - Compiled as a Universal Binary - Intelligent resizing to accommodate --informative-text in all inputbox dialogs, all msgbox dialogs, and textbox. Same for --text in all dropdown dialogs. - New "filesave" dialogs - Added --packages-as-directories option to fileselect. - Added --x-placement and --y-placement to bubble. As always, many thanks to everyone who has submitted feedback, suggestions and ideas. -- Mark A. Stratman ma...@sp... |

CocoaDialog 2.0.0 has been released. It includes an exciting new "bubble" dialog, secure (password) text entries, bug fixes, and fixes for some of the annoyances in previous versions. Visit the homepage at http://cocoadialog.sourceforge.net and also be sure to check out the updated documentation at http:// cocoadialog.sourceforge.net/documentation.html Important backwards-compatibility note: * I broke compatibility of the dropdown dialog with previous versions! Now, when no buttons are pressed as a result of --exit- onchange, it returns a 4 for the button instead of 0. The 0 is now returned for timeouts. Detailed changes include: * Added bubble dialog. * Added secure modes for inputbox and standard-inputbox. * The application now runs as a background app. This means no more annoying menu or dock icon! * Some dialogs can be floated above all other applications. * Timeouts on several dialogs. * Intelligent button resizing * Added custom icon support to msgbox, ok-msgbox, and standard-msgbox. * Added --help options (still needs improvement). * Added --select-only-directories to fileselect. * Restructured project directory, code hierarchy, and refactored much of the code. * Cleaned up the look of several dialogs. * Progressbar won't be displayed right away, to prevent showing for very short operations. * Bug fixes (string-input on inputboxes, missing deallocs). * New application icon. Many, many thanks are needed for this release. Almost everything in it comes from others' contributions. * Wout Mertens - Wout's nearly 1300 line patch is available (though flagged as closed) on the sf.net project page. Most notably this included switching CocoaDialog to a background application, adding the ability to float dialogs above other windows, and timeouts. * Allan Odgaard - Allan cleaned up the look of the progressbar and added a delay so short invocations won't bother showing it, added button resizing, cleaned up the inputboxes, and more. * Laurent Baumann http://www.cubes.fr - Laurent permitted the use of his beautiful bezel icons for bubble dialog's stock icons, as well as for the application icon. As always, please continue to email me if you find bugs, would like features added, etc. Thanks, Mark A. Stratman ma...@sp... |

Wout Mertens kindly uploaded a patch for CocoaDialog that addresses many of the issues listed on the TODO list as well as other things. I plan to integrate most of the changes into the project soon, however I have not yet had the chance. In the meantime you can get the patch from http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=106818&atid=645701 There is also a bug in the standard-inputbox that prevents it from returning values properly when you supply the string-output option. The problem may be present in other dialogs as well, I have not checked yet. It is a simple fix (lines 104-108 in CDInputboxControl.m), but I'm not exactly sure when I'll have time to put together a new file release. - mark |

I've released CocoaDialog 1.2.0 today. The only real change to it is the addition of a "dropdown" control, which allows you to select an item from a drop-down list. You can download the updated binary here: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/cocoadialog/CocoaDialog-1.2.0.tgz? download Go to http://cocoadialog.sourceforge.net to download the source, view the updated documentation, or view the new example for the "dropdown" runmode. Versions of CocoaDialog prior to 1.1.3 would encounter some funky behavior if the progressbar was updated more quickly than the STDIN could be read (you would have large, multi-line labels and occasionally incorrect percent values). This is fixed in 1.1.3. Download from: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/cocoadialog/CocoaDialog-1.1.3.tgz? download Or visit the homepage at: http://cocoadialog.sourceforge.net - Mark A. CocoaDialog 1.1.1 and previous would crash when printing some non-western return values to stdout. It should properly handle all UTF8 now. The quick link to the download is: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/cocoadialog/CocoaDialog-1.1.2.tgz? download or visit the homepage at http://cocoadialog.sf.net - Mark A. Stratman ma...@sp... |

I've uploaded a new release for CocoaDialog. It contains a couple bug
fixes for the progressbar. Hopefully it's completely solved the UTF8
issue, though I'm not certain.
It should now properly handle UTF8 input for the progressbar's text
label.
Changelog:
1.1.1 26/04/2004
         - starting to use x.y.z versioning (instead of x.y)
         - progressbar incorrectly printed error with --debug
(runControlFromOptions: always returned nil, which should
only happen
on error). This has been fixed.
         - progressbar character encoding bug fixed. should now properly
handle
UTF8 labels read from stdin. see bug 942012 on sf.net page.
thanks to
J-F Boquillard for finding and fixing this.

I've uploaded a new version of CocoaDialog today. The main change to this new version is the addition of "inputbox" and "standard-inputbox" controls. These allow for one-line user input. The documentation and examples pages on http://cocoadialog.sf.net have been updated as well. Other changes are minor, such as fixing some oddity in the behavior of the textbox control. The quick download link to the binary file is: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/cocoadialog/CocoaDialog-1.1.tgz? download Links to the 1.2 source code and cvs information can be found at http://cocoadialog.sourceforge.net/download.html Regards, - Mark A.
