When I run cssh with several hosts on Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal, running under a KDE desktop the tiling doesn\'t work. When I switch to the gnome based Unity desktop it works fine with the same .csshrc file.
All the windows come up in a random manner, then I believe that cssh goes and tries to tile all them. The result of this is that all the windows are pushed behind everything else on the desktop, and *aren\'t tiled at all*. When I bring up the windows by clicking on the one at a time, or minimizing all the other apps, they are all over the place, in no particular order, and overlapping and blocking each other.
I took a video of my screen, you can see on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89uUbuv10e0
Similar effect here, running Kubuntu 11.04, cssh 4.00_05, Tk 804.029, X11::Protocol 0.56
In addition, I tried to set the terminal_size to 80x5, but only the first of the xterms uses that.
All others are 80x24 - not practical when you need to treat 32 hosts at a time.
(HOw do I add a followup to this? Only option seems to be Edit this text...)
I think I remember this discussion revolving around the fact that KDE is controlling the window decorations and that information is not available to tk/tcl when tiling the windows. Just found this https://sourceforge.net/p/clusterssh/mailman/message/265939/ which discusses tiling issues. I am now using terminal_reserve_top=25 and the windows tile file. I am assuming that this ticket is really old and not a problem anymore. Anyone else?
