Where are we with the smart_pointers branchs? And which of all the fix branches is ready to be merged to master? It is an encoding issuee. But did you compiled the GermanStemmer.cpp from the master branch? A more recent version of GermanStemmer is in the german_analyzer branch (I replaced the umlauts and the ß-ligature with their corresponding code number). Howevver, with this version I get warnings for the lines with the section sign (§), which I thought is an ASCII sign, but isn't. I must somehow overlooked these warnings. I will take care of this warning. Thanks for the hint. Veit |

Hi Jiri, Unfortunately I'm having some trouble finding time to dedicate to clucene at the moment, so all the checks and merges I planned on doing are on hold. I hope to get to them in a week or two. I looked on your branch - it contains one trivial fix. Please merge it to master yourself. As for the other branches, they contain more intrusive changes, and I'd like to asses their impact first. Also, I'm waiting on some feedback from Veit. Itamar. Hello, I have just added a new branch called SpanQuery_fix with a bug fix for this class. The problem we found was: - if you run a SpanNearQuery with two SpanTermQueries as subqueries and the first of these SpanTermQueries did not match any document, then the global query still returned matching documents based on the second subquery. I went once more through the java-code and I realized that I made a mistake while porting this class. Itamar, could you please merge this branch with master and remove it afterwards? Hi,
I'm just getting started with CLucene and I'm running into a precondition that is failing. I grabbed the latest snapshot from Git (just a day or two ago), here is the error I'm getting:
file:/Users/mronge/Projects/clucene/src/core/CLucene/index/TermInfosWriter.cpp line:161
Terms are out of order: field=body (number 0) lastField=body (number 0) text= lastText=\377x
Here is the precondition:
CND_PRECONDITION(compareToLastTerm(fieldNumber, termText, termTextLength) < 0 ||
(isIndex && termTextLength == 0 && lastTermTextLength == 0),
(string("Terms are out of order: field=") + Misc::toString(fieldInfos->fieldName(fieldNumber)) +
" (number " + Misc::toString(fieldNumber) + ")" +
" lastField=" + Misc::toString(fieldInfos->fieldName(lastFieldNumber)) +
" (number " + Misc::toString(lastFieldNumber) + ")" +
" text=" + Misc::toString(termText, termTextLength) +
" lastText=" + Misc::toString(lastTermText.values, lastTermTextLength)
).c_str() );
From looking at compareToLastTerm it appears it returns 1 if the length termText is < length of lastTermText, so it fails here when termText is empty. Is this correct? Shouldn't it just return -1 when when termText is empty, since "empty" could be ordered in front of everything else?
Thanks!
Matt

Hi, I have to change clucene scoring in the way that the number of documents that contain a certain term does not influence the final score when querying documents using this term. In other words I have to make the score of a document independent of content of the index - it should be influenced only by the document itself and the query. I understood that to achieve this it is enough to overwrite the Similarity and make the inverse document frequency - idf constant. This seems to work fine. But I noticed that the base class Similarity contains two other idf() functions which are not virtual - especially the float_t Similarity::idf(Term* term, Searcher* searcher) which retrieves the document frequency and calls the virtual idf() function to compute the result. I was wondering whether we could make those two other functions also virtual so that I could save retrieving the document frequency at all. I could just return the constant value. Jiri |

The _*.h files are not supposed to be shipped in the release package. But _Term.h file is included in CLucene/search/Query.h to make use of class Term_UnorderedCompare. Either we should move Term_UnorderedCompare to Term.h or we should have an alternative in Query.h. Clients using "clucene" get error "include file _Term.h not found" when they include Query.h. -- Regards Pankaj |

I pushed the bug fix into the memory_leaks branch.
Itamar, do you plan to merge this branch with master?

Subject: [CLucene-dev] SpanQueryFilter.cpp - assignment of bDeleteQuery toitself
Hi,
src/core/CLucene/search/SpanQueryFilter.cpp : line 24
<code>
SpanQueryFilter::SpanQueryFilter( CL_NS2(search,spans)::SpanQuery * query, bool bDeleteQuery )
{
this->query = query;
bDeleteQuery = bDeleteQuery;
}
</code>
bDeleteQuery = bDeleteQuery;
Hmmm... this->bDeleteQuery = bDeleteQuery; ?
Bad style for variable names

Hi, I use clucene for one project. For that we have to port it on various platforms. To compile it properly on AIX, Linux, Solaris (x86 and sparc) I had to make few small changes to the clucene code from HEAD. I want to submit those changes back to the clucene project. How can I do that? Are there any guidelines written? -- Regards Pankaj |
