Our aim is to retrieve our "Custom Property" from the PDF metadata. This would allow us to read this property from encrypted documents which have the metadata stored in the clear (for use by search engines).

The document is created as follows:

  1. In Acrobat Pro DC create a new document and add the following “Custom Property” from File->Properties->Custom Tab:
    • Name = Hello
    • Value = World
  2. Move to the “Description” tab and click “Additional Metadata”. In the new dialog, select “Advanced” from the list on the left hand side. Expand the “http://ns.adobe.com/pdfx/1.3/” branch and note the presence of the “pdfx:Hello: Word” node. This shows the “Custom Property” created in step 1 which is now included in the metadata.
  3. Save the file.

Use the PDFClown ParsingSample class to load the PDF created in step 1. Note that in section “2.1.2 Advanced Metadata” the displayed metadata makes no mention of the “pdfx” attribute seen in Acrobat Pro DC.
